Hi everyone! I started life as a funeral director/embalmer then moved onto be a mortician at a teaching hospital that assisted with autopsies. Our staff also handled over 1000 deaths that occurred in the hospital. Now I am the director of the University Body Donor Program in the medical college. I look forward to talking with others with similar backgrounds.

Hi everyone! Bonjour tout le monde!
I’m Aurelie, from Bruxelles (Belgium) 25 years old, I study to be a Funeral Home director (it’s my second and last year to get this certificate) and next year, if everything’s okay, I’ll study Thanatopraxy, so I have to go one month in England, and one month in America… So if someone can help me to find a website to rent a flat, or to find a youthostel for my stage, I’ll be so lucky! My native language is French, but don’t worry, I can speak english (not perfectly but I do my best :p ). Talke to you soon! Lily.

Hi Ella, I’m in London =) I don’t have a proper job in the death industry either really, although I did assist an embalmer for a while and wanted to be a forensic pathologist but my health got too bad. I work with dead animals now making art etc =)

I am 38 year old single mom and I got into the “Industry ” when I was 15…. Yeah you read it right … 15…. I had a very unique opportunity to attend an autopsy and it was at that moment I knew without question what I wanted to do for the rest of my life … I was volunteering with the Coroners office everyday from that day foreword ….. I even got into the work study program where I gained college credit for on the job training… I was very fortunate to have all of the training and gain so much knowledge as a death investigator …. I learned so much from working for7 years…, it was just after that when the Coroner at that time sat me down and told me he knows I will succeed as a death investigator but I lacked the ” experience because I was so young ” so he suggested I attend Mortuary School in San Fransisco ( as he had done) and then come back a begin my career…. So I got into the funeral business that way…. I have been very fortunate to have the training from the very best embalmers and I have never looked back… I have also worked for the willed body program ( body dissection ) and just recently finished schooling for homicide and death investigation..,, I have never wavered about my career goal of death investigator , but I am an embalmer first and foremost ….. Hope I didn’t babble to much lol

Hi everyone, I signed up on here ages ago but didn’t see my activation email and then forgot! I’ve always been a bit odd and morbid, I have always been interested in true crime, forensics, anatomy and pathology. I wanted to be a forensic pathologist but my health stopped me from accomplishing this, I assisted an embalmed for a while which I found rewarding. Now I run my small business Ossaflores, making art with dead animals and their bones, and other unique things!

Hi Everybody! I just found out about this site. Figured I sign up and see what kind of cool and interesting people I could meet! While I am not in the “death” industry yet, I will hopefully be soon. I have decided to go back to school for mortuary science, as a second career. I am currently a Licensed Massage Therapist, and have been for the past 13 years. It is time for a change and I have always been interested in the mortuary field. How fortuitous that I stumbled upon this site! So, greetings and salutations to all, and if you’d like to start up a conversation, please don’t be shy!

Hey peeps & peepettes, Engel here. I am a gravedigger of many years. I have a really morbid sense of humour. Possibly introvert. I enjoy the death industry and its achievements. Pathologist was one of my dreams (along with running away and joining a circus and perform an autopsy on a clown) growing up but it turns out you need to study on how to slice cadavers, it’s just glorified butchering. Really looking forward to meet like minded future corpses.

Currently not in the death industry, hopefully I will be relatively soon *fingers crossed*
At present I’m a dental nurse, but am doing a health science degree with the open university in the spare time, in the hope that my C.V will look amazing when an APT job pops up in my area ^_^
I guess like most people here my sense of humour is some what morbid, looking forward to meeting new people and networking 🙂

It might be time for me to finally introduce myself properly.

Since the dawn of time (or well, the dawn of my time) I have been fascinated by life, death and time. What started with hours of David Attenborough documentaries and a dream to become a paleontologist is now, twenty years or so later, making me sit on my hands with excitement as I wait for my acceptance letter for mortuary school. I do believe that I have many new perspectives needed in the industry, especially in a country like Sweden where death is, as everything else, “lagom”.

Besides wanting to work hands-on with death in funeral homes, I also explore the subject in art and hobby. I am a published writer, and my texts deal with death, suffering and human nature in different ways, as they have done for as long as I have been writing. I also paint, usually focusing on aging and decay in different forms. The constant struggle of humans to stop time fascinates me endlessly – perhaps because I have always longed for beautiful things to be forever.

I also collect antique taxidermy and natural history, which is quite hard in this small country where such markets are, and have always been, very small. I have recently begun exploring the art of cleaning and mounting skeletons for my own collection, using found bodies only. My favourites seem to be those with visible damage – roadkill, half-eaten, stepped on and so on. The largest part of my collection is actually geological (i.e. stones), not only because they are easier to find, but also because I started the collection at about six years old. I would like to include my collection of fashion and jewellery as well, because it also focuses on death and decay and beauty.

Non death-related is my love for animals (especially cats), ballet dancing, home decor (okay, I admit, this can get a bit morbid too), magic and LGBTQI+ struggles. I blog on the subject of witchcraft, vlog about my gender reassignment process, hold lectures on gender in art/media, administrate an on-line feminism forum, embroider items for every-day use, share my life on instagram, and help keep the local death-café alive.

I hope you all feel very welcome to contact me, and if you want to see the work I do in other corners of the internet I’ll be happy to direct you there 🙂 All the best to you all!

I would love to make new friends here and to know more about the death industry. My first language is Spanish and I know a little of German. Hello lovely people! My name is Jiriah. I am a professional bone crafter and purveyor of the macabre living in sunny (bleh) Orange County in Southern California That is, I work with human and various species of animal bones and fuse them together to create custom jewelry, or other projects within my ability. Taxidermy is a great love of mine, as are most death sciences, practices, and all the amazing sub categories that go along with them. I’m a Repo! The Genetic Opera fanatic (hence ‘Graverobber’), and I won’t hear around the bush, it’s a gigantic obsession haha.

I still need to complete my profile, and I won’t ramble too long on here.

I’d love to meet other individuals in the death industry in my area. Shoot me a message to get to know more!
